Fran Barajas was born in 1995 in Colombia. Initially trained as a cellist, he studied composition in the Conservatory “Óscar Esplá” in Alicante with Marc García Vitoria and Joan Alborch. He’s currently doing a Master’s degree in contemporary music creation in Musikene (Higher School of Music of the Basque Country) with Ramon Lazkano. He has received lessons from composers like Edith Canat de Chizy, Pascal Dusapin, Francisco Coll, Alberto Posadas, Clara Iannotta and Aureliano Cattaneo among others.
In 2018 he was selected to participate in the 40th edition of the ENSEMS Festival in Valencia with “Tres preguntas sobre comunicación”. In 2019 he participated in the Composition Workshop with Francisco Coll and the Orquesta of Valencia, where he presented “A Mad Tea-Party”. Due to this, he received from the Orquesta of Valencia the commission of "mutatis mutandis”. In 2020 he moved to Donostia-San Sebastián, where he collaborated with the pianist Miguel Ituarte in the piece “Klavierstück”, premiered in the Victoria Eugenia Theatre. In 2021 he wrote “The Quartet in my life” for the Quatuor Diotima.
He has worked with ensembles and interpreters, apart from the mentioned, such as Haizeak Ensemble, CSMActual, Trio 233, Lorenzo Meseguer, Coro Maestro Francisco Casanovas and Torrevieja Symphonic Orchestra among others.
